At the point of sale, the days of plain corrugated packaging, printed with one or two colors and a simple graphic design are a distant memory. Since the early 2000s, the demand for multi-color print has grown rapidly as brand owners fight for every last sale in a busy, complex and competitive shopping environment. Thanks to additional applications, such as varnishes and special colors, design agencies and brand owners are demanding more from traditional suppliers of corrugated packaging. Even if you look at the discount supermarket chains like Sam’s Club, Aldi and Costco, practical and multi-colored shelf-ready displays and boxes are commonplace.
With advances in machinery, ancillary products and consumables, flexo print has developed to such a level that it is quite often accepted as a credible alternative to offset.
