Apprentice Exchange Between Göpfert and Fritsch: New Insights, New Experiences

Thinking outside the box and learning from one another: Under this motto, a four-week apprentice exchange took place for the first time between the companies Göpfert and Fritsch. The goal of this joint initiative was to give our apprentices new insights into different work methods, machines, and processes and to expand their technical knowledge.

The idea originated at a career fair, where employees from Göpfert and Fritsch engaged in an extended discussion. During the conversation, the question arose as to whether Göpfert would be interested in a trainee exchange. After internal discussions and facility tours on both sides, it quickly became clear: Let’s do it! After all, this opportunity offers a valuable enrichment for the training of our future workforce.

Four weeks, two companies, many new experiences

Representing Göpfert in the exchange were Samina Junaid and Moritz Völkel, both in their third year of training as electronics technicians. Representing Fritsch were Vincent Gernet and Philipp Haager, also electronics technicians in their third year of training.

The exchange lasted a total of four weeks: First, our apprentices spent two weeks at Fritsch, followed by two weeks at Göpfert.

During this time, they were able to familiarize themselves with different machines, components, materials and work processes. Looking beyond their own daily training routines gave them the opportunity to gain new experiences, learn about different approaches and expand their technical knowledge.

A Win for Everyone Involved

The feedback from the participating trainees has been positive. It was particularly exciting to learn about different machines and parts and to gain insights into various work processes. In addition to the professional experiences, there was, of course, plenty of fun.

The exchange demonstrated how valuable it is to step outside one’s usual environment and gain new perspectives. This benefits not only the trainees themselves but also the participating companies.

What’s next?

The trainee exchange is not intended to be a one-time event. The plan is to repeat it annually in the future and to include additional apprenticeship programs.

The next step is already being planned: Our second-year mechatronics technician is scheduled to participate in the exchange in June 2027.

Our conclusion: The exchange between Göpfert and Fritsch is a successful example of how collaboration across company boundaries can enrich vocational training. We look forward to continuing this project and providing our trainees with new insights and valuable experiences in the future as well!
